Having already ousted it in Japan, Dell has finally come good with details on when its forthcoming Studio One 19 desktop will be available in the UK. The important figures: a starting price of £579 - for the lowliest of specs - and a launch on the 27th of April.
The base model isn't the most inspiring of systems, following Dell tradition, but there are a number of upgrade options - most notably the option to upgrade the Studio One 19's 1,366 x 768 pixel screen to a multi-touch capable model. That display is powered by integrated 9400M graphics and backed up by as much as 4GB of RAM 640GB of hard drive capacity and even a quad-core processor.
Also on the options list are a Blu-ray drive and Draft-N WiFi (up from standard 802.11b/g). Specced similarly - multi-touch screen and all - the Dell Studio 19, strangely enough, will likely sit in a similar price bracket to the HP TouchSmart range - it's nearest rival. Both rely primarily on custom software to make the most of their touchscreens, so it will be interesting to see how Dell's system fares in comparison.
