Dell Smartphone to Launch This Week

Here comes Dell...

According to Tech Crunch the computer giant's long awaited entry into the smartphone market will arrive this week. The launch will apparently involve a device which is "iPhone-like, touchscreen, no physical keyboard" - not exactly mind blowing on its own, but let's not be quick to judge. /94/b5c8cc/07e9/11603-image.jpg
Rather surprisingly it is also claimed that the Dell smartphone will see its initial launch in the Chinese market. A strange move from a US brand looking to establish itself in a new sector. Heck, even the Apple iPhone struggles in the Far East.

China Mobile and China Unicom are mooted as Dell's potential launch partners though no information has been leaked regarding perhaps the most important part: the OS. Dell's long time relationship with Microsoft was said to be the driver for a Windows Mobile device, but after rumours of a Dell proprietary platform (don't do it!) the smart money seems to be on Google Android.

In all fairness this is far too many ifs and buts for our liking, but we should at least know by the end of the week. Colour us mildly catatonic...
