Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop Leaked

Dell's support sight isn't a place where one would usually expect a new laptop to be first spotted, but in the case of the Dell Inspiron 1545 an exception has been made. The main highlight? A 15.6in optionally LED-backlit (at a cost presumably) 16:9 aspect ratio screen.

According to the apparently-prematurely published Technology Guide the specs should line-up as follows:

  • Intel Celeron and Core 2 Duo CPUs available (too many choices to list)

  • Up to 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM

  • 15.6in 1,366 x 768 (LED backlighting optional)

  • Ethernet, Draft-N wireless connectivity

  • Three USB ports, ExpressCard slot

  • Windows Vista or Ubuntu Linux available

Hardly the most interesting configuration in the world, but the change from a more traditional 16:10 aspect ratio to 16:9 is noteworthy. Admittedly it could just be a result of Dell buying such panels because they're available cheaply. There does seem to be a trend of 15.4in machines moving to 15.6in 16:9 at the moment after all - take the Acer Aspire 6935G for example.

All we need to be leaked now is UK pricing and a release date.

PC World Tottenham Court Road has one on display - before the website admits its existance.

When is Dell going to move to the new processors and Graphic chips for their laptops? They appear to be a whole generation behind the market!

that means the XPS version cant be far behind

the XPS and Inspiron are way overdue a Montevino upgrade - something the Studio is far ahead on...

Well I imagine Inspiron doesn't have it due to it being the entry-level range. As for the XPS, I'd wager Dell will be announcing a refresh early next year (did someone say CES?) since it seems overdue.
