Previewed a gazillion years ago (or ‘January’ as it is otherwise known), the Nintendo DS Lite finally has an official price and release date.
$129.99 and 11 June is the information you need to know, and while I’m sure we’ll be at least a month behind in the UK the grey import market will clearly go nuts. As we suspected (but couldn’t say) at the time of our original DS Lite report from a gazillion years ago the not officially final design is actually the officially final design.
My heart still isn’t pounding at its restyled looks but then again at 219g and 133 x 73.9 x 21.5mm neither will my pockets be bulging (did I just go somewhere else there?). For the record the original DS’s stats are 275g and 148.7 x 84.7 x 28.9mm and it will be no more or less powerful than the Lite.
I still think the new device looks like an aborted Apple concept from the mid 80s or a discarded set design from Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it’s going to sell by the boat load so I’m sure Nintendo doesn’t care what I think in the slightest.
