DJ Hero, Band Hero & Guitar Hero 5 Confirmed

As if we didn't have enough music games to play anyway, Activision has confirmed not one new 'Hero' title, but three: Band Hero, Guitar Hero 5 and DJ Hero. The names are, as ever, pretty self-explanatory.

DJ Hero will substitute the titular Guitar of Guitar Hero for a so-called "innovative turntable controller." According to Activision, "DJ Hero transforms players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world's most exciting artists and DJs." Quite how scores will be calculated is anyone's guess - although given the quality of some pop music it should at least be impossible to fail by making the music sound worse.

Band Hero will be bringing the franchise to a younger audience, aiming for an E10+ rating (i.e. it will be appropriate for 10 year old kids and older). Apparently sticking with the "easy to play, difficult to master" style as the previous guitar Hero titles, featuring "top-40 hits" to play on bass, drums guitar and microphone.

Guitar Hero 5 won't surprise anyone by being a pretty much incremental upgrade from Guitar Hero: World Tour. Although the ability to drop into songs on-the-fly and dynamic difficulty adjustment should prove interesting.

"Money printing hero rumoured" When did you guys join Captain Sarcasmo's team? Whilst some people see Activision's move as a money milking one, others see it as broader choice for all gamers alike, isn't it supposed to be a good thing? "As if we didn't have enough music games to play anyway", what exactly do you mean by that? Are you implying that there are more Music games than FPS or Racing Games? How about a normal article annoucing the release of these titles?

Sorry for exhibiting a sense of humour. I'll be sure to only report things in a dull manner from now on.
