Creative Upgrades Sub-less T20 Speakers

In April Andy reviewed what we still believe to be the finest pair of 2.0 desktop speakers we've ever heard. Trust Creative then to go and offer an upgrade just five months later...

To be fair, the 'Gigaworks T40' isn't a direct replacement for the T20 rather a steroided larger and louder brother since Creative has further fine tuned its ability to blast out the bass without a physically separate sub.

Consequently, you'll notice the T40s have an additional cloth domed tweeter on each satellite which Creative claims will deliver 'intimate and detailed' highs to compliment the midrangers already featured on the T20. Furthermore, this configuration allows for each satellite to be arranged in MTM (midrange-tweeter-midrange) to combine sonic balance with bass for what is hoped to be even fuller, warmer and more accurate results.

Just like the T20, the T40 also has front mounted bass, treble and volume controls for easy access along with a headphone output for private listening which can be coupled with a bundled lead to directly output any third party device with a 3.5mm jack - yep, that includes iPods and Creative's increasingly impressive range of players.

Enticingly, Creative has made the T40s immediately available and if they can repeat the trick of the wondrous T20s (of which I was so impressed I went out and bought a pair) then the RRP of £104.99 incl. VAT will prove a bargain.
