Corsair Launches 90GB and 180GB SSDs

Since it launched its über-fast Force Series of SSDs back in March with the 100GB and 200GB devices, Corsair has continued to build on its success with a further announcement in July and now looks to dominate even further with its latest addition to the range.

Corsair has announced two more additions to its range of Force Series Solid State Drives – the F90 and F180 with (as you might have guessed) densities of 90GB and 180GB respectively. It is the speed though which is the most jaw-dropping aspect of these units. Built using the Sandforce SF-1200 SSD Processor, the F90 and F180 boast read speeds of 285MB/sec and write speeds of up to 275MB/sec.

The F90 and F180 are available immediately from Corsair's worldwide network of authorized distributors and resellers. The F90 will cost about £144 including VAT and the F180 will set you back somewhere in the region of £275 which is pretty good value, we think, considering the speeds and capacity.

The F90 and F180 Force Series SSDs all implement the ATA TRIM command, supported by Windows 7, which should help maintain the optimal performance over the drive's lifetime.

"Corsair’s Force Series of SSDs have become extremely popular with enthusiasts and gamers, and with these two new capacities we can offer our customers greater flexibility to choose the capacity that best suits their budget,” stated Thi La, VP of Memory Products at Corsair. "The 90GB and 180GB capacities neatly fill the gaps in the current family, which now ranges from 40GB all the way to 240GB."
