While the main focus of my meeting with Philips was to be shown its new 1 Terabyte external hard drive, there were also a number of other existing, new, and upcoming products available for me to get my hands on.

First up are Philips new range of webcams, the SPC620, SPC1000 and the flagship SPC1300. All the new models feature wide-angle lenses coupled with face tracking technology that ensures your face is always centre screen.

The flagship SPC1300 (99.90 euro) features Pixel Plus 2 technology (used in Philips Flat TVs) that ensures video is razor-sharp and enables images to be captured at up to 6-megapixels. Two directional microphones work together to isolate sound only coming from in front of the camera, so you will still be able to be heard loud and clear. The other unique feature of the SPC1300 is called Digital Natural Motion, which basically ups the framerate of video capture to 90fps, effectively eliminating motion blur and flicker.

Moving down a notch, the SPC1000 (49.90 euros) has only one directional microphone with a noise reduction filter, the video enhancements are also dropped, and the sensor size is down to 2-megapixels for video and 5-megapixels for pictures. It also has a 5x digital zoom for those that like their video to have that certain grainy feel.

Finally we have the SPC620 (49.90) that has only a VGA resolution sensor and no directional microphone. Bizarrely, though, it is the same price as the SPC1000.

All the models will be available in August.
