Displays Displayed

One thing I’ve definitely noticed at Computex is how much TFT/LCD technology has improved over the past couple of years. Some of the displays I’m seeing look absolutely amazing with excellent viewing angles and vibrant colours.

This caught my eye, firstly because its picture quality looked really good, but also because this 47” panel is touch screen. The amusingly named Chillin was actually demonstrating the panel’s ability using a paint brush and the Art Rage 2 software.

This unit from Lavod claims to be the “world’s first real time High Defintion wireless Video transmission Solution”. The Liberty 700 uses traditional 802.11a/b/g technology, but can transmit 720p and 1080i images. It has four aerials, so I wonder if it is bonding several channels to get the bandwidth, but it can apparently do this up to 100m away with a direct line of sight. Input is only D-SUB and is limited to 30 frames per second. Naturally, HDCP won’t be supported as it is analogue, but there is a mention of a DVI/HDMI version on the website.

Several resellers in the UK are stocking Lavod products, so I expect to see this soon.
