Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Goes Gold

I don't usually cover that many game previews since our prolific games maestro Stuart Andrews already churns out more reviews across more formats than many can handle, but some titles are worthy making the odd exception...

In fact, for Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars we're actually making our third exception since I was first bowled over by it back in August and Andy highlighted it at the start of the year in his Gamers' Guide to 2007. The big news: C&C3 has Gone Gold.

In layman's terms this means the code is finished and the software is being prepped for shipment to retailers globally in preparation for the 30 March release date. Anticipation for this one is immense with the C&C3 demo being downloaded an incredible one million times in its first week and when you look at the screenshots you can see why. Grab it here.

Interestingly, C&C3 will be released in two versions with two different ratings. The standard game comes with a 16+ certificate while the 'Kane Edition' (which includes a behind the scenes documentary, deleted scenes, blooper reel and gameplay strategy videos) is deemed to be worthy of an 18+ stamp. Kane is evil, I suppose.

An Xbox 360 edition of C&C3 will be available in the next few months to appease console fans, but – until then – PCs get a rare moment in the spotlight and I'm sure Stuart will soon be telling PS3 and Wii owners just how jealous they should be...
