Clamshell Completes Chocolate Range

If you’ve read our review of LG’s original Chocolate phone, the KG800, then you’ll know that the RAZR rival suffers from much the same pros and cons as its role model. That hasn’t stopped it from selling like hot cakes though and after adding the candy bar KG320 to the brand it has now covered every base with the introduction of the KG810 clamshell.

As the minor number jump would suggest the KG810 is virtually identical to the KG800. It;s quad band, sports a 176 x 220 resolution screen, 1.3MP digital camera, 128MB of onboard memory, MP3, AAC, AAC+ and MP4 format support, an FM radio, Bluetooth and even weighs the same (83g). Still, portability and looks aside, these aren’t the greatest specs in the world for Q3 2006 and unfortunately the same shortcomings plague the KG810 too.

Consequently, the biggie here is there is still no expandable memory slot, while the stylish but impractical heat sensitive music keys continue to flatter to deceive. Elsewhere the battery has actually be shrunk down from 800mAh to 700mAh though the quoted 200 hours of standby matches the KG800 and the talk time (four hours verses three hours 20 minutes) is actually superior.

Having established a tidy reputation in the fashion phone sector the KG810 is clearly LG’s most blatant attempt yet to pull the wide boys, white stiletto wearers, handbag dancers and Ben Sherman brand buyers away from their beloved RAZRs. Oh and don’t forget city traders, estate agents, people who say the phrase ‘haters’, Audi TT drivers, 90 per cent of all salesmen, middle aged men and DJs.

The KG810 is immediately available with a price subject to contract. You can bet the entire cast of Celebrity Love Island and the majority of the England football team have them slapped to their ear holes right now.
