Digital Ixus 100 IS and 95 IS
Canon has added four new models to its premium ultra-compact Digital Ixus range. Rather confusingly, the new 12.1-megapixel Ixus 100 IS replaces the old Ixus 85 IS, while the 10-megapixel Ixus 95 IS replaces the Ixus 80 IS.
Features common to both new models include a 3x zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II, i-Contrast mode, Smart Auto mode with Scene Detection Technology, Digic 4 image processing, motion detection, face detection with blink detection, FaceSelf-Timer and auto red-eye correction. Both cameras have optical viewfinders.
The Ixus 100 IS is Canon's slimmest camera ever, its steel body measuring just 18.4mm thick. It is available in silver, black, gold or red, and looks pretty damn classy in all of them. As well as the features listed above, the Ixus 100 IS also has HD movie recording (720p) with HDMI output.
The Digital IXUS 100 IS is available from Mid March 2009 priced at £299, while the Digital IXUS 95 IS is available from Mid February 2009 priced at £249.
