Canon Refreshes Multifunction Entry Level Lasers

Writing about printers is not really one of the highlights of my day but much like eating your greens, brushing your teeth and swearing at traffic congestion it’s one of those things that needs to be done on a fairly regular basis. Here’s a couple of newbies from Canon that may tickle your fancy.

The MF3220 3-in-1 (left) and MF3240 (right) 4-in-1 are entry level additions to the company’s high end LaserBase line and pack some strong features for a relatively low price.

The mono laser sporting pair both churn out 20ppm at up to 1200 x 600dpi, offer first copy out times of under 11 seconds, warm up times of just eight seconds, 600 x 1200dpi capable colour scanners and all-in-one cartridges that yield a maximum of 2,500 pages. What separates the two is the addition of a Super g3 modem 33.6kbps fax which has seven One-Touch and 100 coded dials.

Both are remarkably compact at 449 x 487 x 369mm (with trays) and 449 x 430 x 369mm (without) though they weigh a not altogether featherweight 11Kg. Currently there is no Mac support but if you want to jump on Canon’s LaserBase line for less than the usual splurge you’ll be pleased to know the MF3220 and MF3240 come with RRPs of £470 and £495 including VAT respectively and should suit SOHO users down to the ground.

Now, sentence over, let’s get back to TVs, MP3 players and digital cameras!
