BlackBerry Storm User Guide Leaks

While we're starting to reach iPhone levels of overexposure here, yet more details have leaked about the BlackBerry Storm...

The company's first touchscreen device has already been seen from virtually every angle, been praised, criticised and now we even have a slideshow walkthrough of its key features and a user guide.

Other than pretty pictures what we actually learn of substance isn't all that great but there are a few points worth highlighting. Firstly, the Storm's virtual keypad will indeed be the much debated "response click" system which the company claims to be "a more natural typing experience - you feel as though you are pressing keys as you type." This is likely to divide opinion however with early leaks describing it as clumsy and giving the sensation that you are pushing in the whole screen.

Less debatable however is news that the Apple-made-infamous copy & paste functionality will be part of the Storm with a basic form of multi-touch used where one finger is placed at the beginning of what you wish to highlight, the other at the end and from there you can cut / copy, etc.

On the downside, these leaks come from the Verizon network so we don't get any updated timescales as to when we might finally see the Storm launched. That said, my spidey sense tingles when I think about last October / early November.

Update: News is also coming in the Storm will have its own App Store rival but sadly networks will have the final say on vetoing applications - even if they are first approved by RIM. Furthermore the store will let users browse, but not install applications directly - that must still be done manually.

Not so close and no cigar?
