While I may be the sole dissenting voice in the TR offices (because you're just so wrong Gordon - ed.) in thinking that BioShock wasn't the best game of the year (I have issues with the AI and HL2: Episode 2 and the first two thirds of Crysis have it for me!) there is no denying it's a masterpiece. A masterpiece that PS3 owners will finally get to sample for themselves...
Yep, despite initial protestations that the stunning underwater FPS would be Xbox 360 and PC only, developer 2K Games has performed a welcome U-turn and welcomed Sony to the party (actual PS3 shots above and below).
"Since BioShock for Xbox 360 and Games for Windows won countless 2007 Game of the Year awards, we are excited to see the impact of this stellar title for the PLAYSTATION 3 system when it debuts this fall," spun Christoph Hartmann, 2K President. "Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms."
Just what these 'new features' will be tickles our fancy, but with the game due out in October expect details to be teasingly drip fed over the coming months. Whether this all means the recently announced BioShock 2 will have a simultaneous PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 launch in 2009 remains to be seen.
In crazy related news mobile gaming developer IG FUN has also announced it aims to port BioShock in some form to the iPhone following the completion of its BREW edition. Questions such as How, How and HOW all seem perfectly valid... and no, we haven't got a clue either.
