An old disused coal mine in Germany is an unusual location for a product launch, but this was where BenQ chose to unveil its new line of projectors last week.

A big emphasis was put on widescreen becoming standard even on mainstream business projectors. The SP830, SP831 both offer widescreen 1,280 x 768 native resolution, with 3,500 and 4,000 ANSI lumens respectively.

Each of these also features clever split screen technology, enabling them to show two pictures at once side by side. This could be useful in many scenarios, such as showing a picture of something, a diagrammatic image of it at the same time, making it far easier to visualise the subject

The MP73 office projector also features widescreen, 1,280 x 800 resolution and have Brilliant Color II technology, which should provide subtler colour gradations and increased vividness.

It also released nine other new colour projectors including the interesting looking XGA resolution (1,024 x 768) MP622 which sports 2,200 ANSI lumens and have a bit lobbed off the corner, just for effect.

On the home cinema front it also announced the W5000 and W20000, both 1,920 x 1,080 resolution units with 10,000:1 and 20,000:1 contrast ratios respectively, which should be out in the next couple of months. In the mean time, look out for a full review of the W10000 on TR this Wednesday.
