The wonder that is the FP241W is still fresh in our memories despite its release 18 months ago, but has BenQ finally found a worthy successor?

The Taiwanese manufacturer boasts the 'V2400W' is the "world's slimmest 24 inch LCD monitor" and while I don't personally go around measuring display thicknesses (shocking, I know) I must admit I've seen little to compare to its 191.7mm total depth. BenQ claims this measurement is 21 per cent thinner than any rival 24 incher on the market (the figure is from its chubbiest point) but - in truth - this isn't the only appealing feature the display has going for it.

On top of its waifish lines, the V2400W is also beautifully styled with Manfred Wang, Director of the BenQ Lifestyle Design Center, admitting it was "inspired by the B2 stealth bomber" and even if I can't entirely see the aerodynamic resemblance it certainly stands out from the crowd.

Besides this, the V2400W also packs some impressive specs with a native 1920 x 1200, 1080p friendly resolution, 4,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 2ms response time and 160 degree viewing angle. Connectivity keeps up its end too with HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs with HDCP support over both DVI and HDMI.

Like its B2 role model, the V2400W has snuck upon us too with an imminent April release date across Europe and the US. No word on pricing, but fingers crossed it won't take a Military Defence budget to attain...

Update: BenQ has contacted us to reveal UK pricing will be £319 including VAT for a late April landing (sorry, couldn't resist).
Update 2 (24.04.08) Here are some new and rather swanky images. The V2400W is also on sale now with retailers cutting it to around £300. Sounds like a real bargain to me...
