Also on show was a working sample of Belkin’s wireless USB system. I’ve been hearing about wireless USB for some time now, so it’s good to see retail ready products on show. Belkin’s solution comprised a four port USB hub that communicated wirelessly with a USB module plugged into a notebook.
The potential for wireless USB is quite promising – imagine keyboards, mice, external hard disks, PDAs and MP3 players all connecting to your PC without the need for cables. The real key will be having wireless USB integrated into devices, much like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are today, but for now we’ll be looking at external modules like these. Hopefully I’ll have a review sample of Belkin’s wireless USB hardware very soon, so watch this space.
