Now this is what we're talking about...
Asus has stepped out today with the motherboard features enthusiasts have all been waiting for: USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gbps (SATA 3.0). This formidable combo come courtesy of the new 'P7P55D-E' which is built around the Intel P55 Express chipset and features support for the company's latest LGA 1156 socket Core i7 and i5 processors.
As you might for a flagship mobo all round connectivity is extreme with support for DDR3 2200 overclocked memory, dual PCIe x16 slots and CrossFireX/SLI, dual Gigabit LAN, 10 channel HD, DTS audio, 6x SATA II, 2x SATA 6Gbps, 1x eSATA (by bracket), 1x Ultra DMA, up to 12x USB 2.0 (via additional panels), 2x USB 3.0 and Firewire.
A 'P7P55D' motherboard is also available minus the SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0, but this can soon been added in thanks to a new Asus 'U3S6' expansion card which brings 2x SATA 6Gbps, 2x USB 3.0 and a PCIe x4 interface. Very nifty. Both mobos also feature Asus' own 'Hybrid Technology' (comprising 'Hybrid Processor', 'Hybrid Phase', and 'Hybrid OS') which enable real time overclocking and automatic performance tuning as well as multi-phase power delivery to assist system cooling.
