Asus Unveils Aluminium-Clad Eee PC 1002HAE

Asus Unveils Aluminium-Clad Eee PC 1002HAE

If plastic shelled of netbooks, even such attractively formed ones as the Eee PC 1008HA sports, aren't quite good enough for you, take a gander at Asus' Eee PC 1002HAE which scorns man-made polymers in favour of an aluminium skin.

Available in Deep Red, Dark Blue and Metal Grey the 1002HAE is, ostensibly, an Eee PC 1002HA but with aluminium on the outside instead of plastic. For a start, the same 10in, 1,024 x 600 pixel display is present as is Draft-N wireless and Bluetooth.

The netbook is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N280, coupled to 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive. Asus suggests some 3.8 hours of use should be had from the 1002HAE's 4200mAh battery which isn't exactly stellar by recent standards.

No pricing and as yet only Japan is seeing an official release, but knowing Asus the 1002HAE will likely go global soon enough.

Seems like netbook manufacturers are in a race to see who can extract the most money for the same old tat.
