Asus Reveals U-Series Laptops

Asus reckons that its latest U Series laptops are the answer to the question of "form or function?" Because, it is said, the range compromises on neither front, offering both great design and performance. We shall seeā€¦

Kicking off the series is the 12.1in U20A with CULV processors including the single-core SU3500 and dual-core SU9400. The UX30 has a 13.3in display and also sports low-voltage processors, including the dual-core SU9600 and single-core SU3300. Both use integrated Intel GMA4500MHD graphics.

The 14in U80V offers AMD Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics while the U50g and U51Vg sport nVidia GeForce 105M GPUs. All three are powered by standard, non-low voltage CPUs. The U81A sticks with Intel integrated graphics.

All of the U-Series can boast up to 4GB of RAM, 500GB of hard drive capacity and offer both Bluetooth and Draft-N Wi-Fi connectivity. All save the UX30 also sport DVD drives and run Windows Vista and their LCD screens are LED-backlit. Asus' ExpressGate is installed on the entire range, offering quick-access to basic functions without entering Windows.

... and netbook prices for the whole range? please? *pretty please*

Given the current trend netbook prices are taking maybe so.

If they want them to be functional laptops then providing some functional details like weight, what the screen coating is and what the battery life is like would have been helpful.

Very nice laptop, but any idea of price? Will it be reasonably priced somewhere above netbooks (>£600 ish) or rediculously priced along the same lines as the Lenovo X300 or Samsung X360? I lose track with these laptops models to fill every niche, it seems you can pay double money for similar specs.
