Asus has revealed an eye-catching CPU cooler. The Star Ice is the biggest CPU cooler we’ve ever seen and looks like an enormous jet engine. The cooler can be used with the latest LGA775 socket Pentium 4 CPUs, as well as Socket 478. It’s also compatible with AMD Athlon XP and Athlon64 CPUs. Thanks to its Smart Clip set, the fan always points towards the chassis’ rear ventilation holes regardless of the CPU location and motherboard layout.

The Star Ice contains a large heatsink to absorb CPU heat while the fan vents the air out. A second fan can be attached for even more efficient cooling. The fan speed is also adjustable with a front or rear mountable control dial.

Inevitably an oversized cooler like this wouldn’t be complete without UV LED lights and is available in red, green, in blue.

Of course, what we really need is for someone to come up with a cooler that looks like the flux capacitor from Doc Brown’s Delorean time machine from Back to the Future. Judging from the ever increasing requirements of modern procesors, it surely won't be too long before they draw 1.21 Gigawatts of power. Just add a case with gull-wing doors and you’d be in movie tribute heaven.

In the meantime you'll just have to make do with the Asus Star Ice, which Overclockers.co.uk has on preorder for £41.07.
