Asus Eee PC To Get 10in Screen

I don't know if you got the memo, but we liked the Asus Eee PC, we liked it rather a lot in fact. If there was one major criticism that stood out, though, it would probably be the screen size, or rather the lack thereof. You see 800 pixels just isn't wide enough for viewing most web pages. Luckily, the forthcoming 8GB model, which we previously thought had the same 7in screen as the 4GB model we reviewed, looks set to feature a 10in screen.

More information than that isn't available at the moment but we have at least managed to get a confirmation from Asus that the new model will probably arrive some time next year. So, while we'd hope the larger screen would offer a better resolution we can't tell for sure. More interesting though, is that the actual machine will still be the same size despite the increased panel dimensions. Seeing as in the current model the space to the side of the panel houses the Eee's speakers, some compromises may have to be made, but otherwise all is as it was.

Specs wise the 8GB model also boasts an extra 512MB RAM and (oddly enough given the name) 4GB more drive space, than its smaller-screened sibling, but otherwise again everything else is the same. Asus is also going to be selling a Windows XP pre-install version of the 8GB Eee, which is tempting at least one person in our own offices if no-one else. Keep your eyes peeled for a release date in the near future.
