Apple January Event Confirmed

Apple's January 'Mobility' Event Apparently Confirmed

Has Fox News just done something good?

If so I'd be truly stunned, so let's settle with I'm not entirely sure. Slapping 'Exclusive' all over an article about Apple late yesterday evening seems to have gotten everyone's attention though, so what's the what?

In short Fox claims its sources within Apple have "confirmed a 'big' event planned for January focused on the mobility space"... it concludes "meaning something iPhone/Touch related". Yeah, I'm not sure I follow the logic there (Apple refreshes the iPhone in June/July and the third generation iPod touch is barely four months old).

Fox then speculates "Could this be the announcement of the mythical Apple tablet we've been hearing so much about?" Yep, that would surely be getting warmer, though I do worry it proclaims: "I've already picked it as my favorite gadget of 2009, even though the tablet doesn't officially exist yet." Good old Fox.

Anyway, this all seems something of a rehash of the Financial Times' story about an Apple January event and also mentions the same Yerba Buena venue. Then again the FT isn't flawless having originally said an iTablet was launching in September 2009. Still, it's New Year's Eve and news is always plentiful and, erm, important... *sigh*

In related news former Google China president Kai-fu Lee also claims we'll be getting a 10in multi-touch iPhone-esque Apple tablet in January. Joy.

"I've already picked it as my favorite gadget of 2009, even though the tablet doesn't officially exist yet."

AH-HA-HA-HA! Good old Fox with their good old truthiness. A Schiavo-level of brainpower there.

That was great Kelly. Have a Happy New Year, sir.

I have no idea what market this tablet will be aimed at, I'll just have to wait and see

p.s. also for some reason both the apple stories, for some reason , take ages to load (>30sec) where the rest of the site takes way under a second - strange

@Jay - yep, it's an ad banner playing up. Shouldn't affect all articles - we're looking into it. Thanks for the patience with the loading... hope it was worth the wait ;)
