As the day draws to an end thousands of people will be looking forward to getting home to try out the long awaited Half-Life 2. However, what should be a momentous moment will pretty disappointing if you find that your system just isn’t up to it.

While a graphics card upgrade may do the trick, if your system is as bad as this guy’s, you’ll probably need an entirely new PC. And if you’ve got a spare £2,285 then Alienware has a system designed specifically to help you. In fact, Alienware claim they actually spoke with Valve, the developers of Half-Life 2, as to what would be the ultimate specifications to play the game. The result is the Aurora City 17, named after one of the key locations in the game.

No surprise then that the City 17 features an ATi X800 XT, due to Valve’s close association with the Canadian graphics firm. The machine is AMD powered, with a no compromise Athlon FX 55 and is backed by 2GB of PC4200 RAM and no less than dual 10,000rpm 75Gb Raptors, ensuring the fastest level loads possible. Sound is handled by a Creative Audigy 2 ZS.

If this is a PC that gets your crowbar hand itching you’ll need to hurry as the Aurora City 17 is a limited edition.
