ATI has announced new chipsets supoprting the latest AMD processors. The Radeon Xpress 200m series, formerly known as RS480 and RX480 supports both Socket 754 and Socket 939.

This 200G chipset is the first AMD-based solution to offer integrated DirectX 9 graphics, while the 200P offers a x16 PCI Express slot for high performance discrete graphics. Both have a four x1 PCI Express lane for add-in cards.

The integrated graphics on the Xpress 200G are based on the Radeon X300 core and support Vertex and Pixel Shader 2.0.

Hyper Memory technology is also fully supported, enabling board manufacturers to reduce costs by making use of system memory. Connectivity is provided by four SATA connections with RAID 0 and 1 support and eight USB 2.0 ports.

Audio is limited to AC97, but ATI revealed that if a discrete graphics card is used in conjunction with the on board graphics up to four monitors can be used at once.

Pricing hasn’t been announced but the names lined up include the usual suspects such as Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Shuttle and ECS.
