9.7-inch iPad Pro could have the same camera as the iPhone 6S

Apple is rumoured to be holding an event this month where it’ll showcase the iPhone SE and a new iPad. The tablet was initially rumoured to be the iPad Air 3, but now it’s said to be a smaller version of the iPad Pro. And according to the latest rumour, it’ll have a better camera than its bigger brother.

According to 9to5Mac, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will have the same 12-megapixel camera as the iPhone 6S. That would make it better than the 8-megapixel snapper on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

9to5Mac claims to have spoken to sources who have seen prototypes of the device.

Surely giving the smaller model a better camera would harm sales of the bigger device? Not necessarily. The 12.9-inch model is aimed at creative professionals, whereas the 9.7-incher would be more suited to taking out and snapping photos. Much as it gets our goat to see people do so.

The new Pro is also said to have the same FaceTime HD camera and 4K video recording as the iPhone 6S.

Camera aside, the smaller tablet looks like having the same specs as the 12.9-incher. In other words, an A9X processor, compatibility with the Apple Pencil stylus, quad speakers and a Smart Connector.

Lastly, it sounds like the Apple event will be a little later than expected – March 21, instead of March 15, as previously rumoured. Either way, there’s not long to wait for new Apple gear. We’ll bring you all the news as it happens.
