50 Cent launches new Star Wars headphones ahead of Episode VII

SMS Audio, 50 Cent’s audio-wares brainchild, has just unveiled a brand new headphone range riffing on the Star Wars universe at CES 2015.

The geek-chic line-up has been dubbed ‘Star Wars Street’ and enters audio-dom as the second generation of Star Wars-inspired cans.

The four models on offer this time around are R2-D2, Tie Fighter, Darth Vader, and Chewbacca, building on last year’s choice of Stormtrooper, Rebel Alliance, Boba Fett, and Imperial. All allegiances covered, it seems.

At last year’s launch, 50 Cent talked up his love of Star Wars, saying: “I’ve been a fan of Star Wars since I was a kid, so working with LucasFilm to create this line of headphones was a really cool experience.”

“Star Wars has a huge following of dedicated fans and I’m excited to welcome them into the SMS Audio family.”

SMS Audio talks up its latest fare as ‘lightweight, yet durable’, boasting passive noice cancellation, enhanced bass, custom 40mm drivers, and leather memory foam ear cushions.

We’re not savvy to pricing just yet, but last year’s headphones retailed at $179.95, so expect a similar tag this time around.

You better act quickly though – the Star Wars Street lug-huggers are available for a limited time only, after which they disappear quicker than you can say ‘Alderaan.’ Awkward…

The new range is dedicated to the fast-approaching Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, the long awaited next instalment for the epic sci-fi movie franchise.

It’s directed by J J Abrams, and will land in UK cinemas this December.
