The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 release date could happen in August, earlier than originally anticipated.

According to the Taiwanese media citing supply-chain sources, Apple is readying its smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 to launch a month earlier than Apple’s usual launch cycle.

Apparently the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model will then be announced in the usual September slot as the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 were in 2013 and 2012 respectively.

The sources suggest the iPhone 6 will both be unveiled and released in August, which would greatly please Apple fans.

This year it is predicted that Apple will produced 80 million iPhone 6 handsets to fulfil demand.

So far, the iPhone 6 is expected to run on a new Apple A8 processor, building on the A7 CPU introduced with the iPhone 5S.

Of course, we’d be very surprised if it didn’t feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner as well.

A recently published patent suggest Apple may not jump on the megapixel bandwagon and focus on improving the image quality of the iPhone 6 camera, potentially with “super-resolution” images.

To go with that bigger screen, the iPhone 6 is expected to feature a pretty major redesign by adopting the curved edges of the iPhone 5C and iPod Touch.

The hold button is expected to move from the top to the right hand side of the iPhone 6 too, making it easier to access when operating a phone with a larger screen.

Apple is expected to kit out the device with a brand new health-focused mobile operating system – iOS 8. This will let it work well with the heavily rumoured Apple iWatch and make use of the Apple M7 co-processor found in the iPhone 5S.
