Will the 1TB model come to the UK?

Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 has just gone up for pre-order over at Microsoft's online store – but there's no 1TB model available for us Brits.

When pressed on the matter by PC Advisor, Microsoft hinted that if the demand is great enough, it might bring the larger-capacity model to these shores.

The firm said: "We do not comment on pending market availability. That said, we have taken and will continue to take a measured and phased approach to Surface Pro 4 availability to meet customer demand and partner expectations."

That's corporate-speak for if enough people ask for it, we'll do it.

The Surface Pro 4 starts at £749 for the 128GB model with 4GB of RAM. The device features a 12.3-inch PixelSense display with 5 million pixels and a pixel density of 267ppi. Microsoft claims it's 50 per cent faster than the MacBook Air, and 30 per cent faster than the Surface Pro 3.

It's thinner than last year's model and now has a fingerprint sensor, which should make it more secure. The trackpad is 40 per cent larger than last year's model, and the keyboard is backlit.

The Surface Pen stylus is magnetically stored, and has a battery life of one year.

The Surface Pro 4 will face stiff competition from Apple's iPad Pro. With its case that doubles as a detachable keyboard, the iPad Pro is very similar to the Surface family of devices. The iPad Pro only goes up to 128GB, however, while even us limeys can get our hands on a 256GB Surface Pro 4.
