Has Amacrox have finally cracked the troublesome nut that is portable laptop speakers?
Sound quality on laptops still leaves something to be desired. Certainly the integrated audio chips have improved, but unless your using a hefty gaming rig output isn’t often up to scratch, so could this neat attempt by Amacrox fix the problem?
At just 110 x 110 x 42mm and 80g the moulded all-in-one solution is portable enough to pack into a bag, but it is the 2.1 setup (two speakers and separate bass) which could be the key to its success. The amplifier is rated at Class D, each speaker produces 1.2W and the company boasts the micro drivers ‘deliver a full spectrum of pure, distinct sound’.
Powering and connecting the portable 2.1 Subwoofer speaker set couldn’t be easier either since everything works through a single 53cm USB cable and the installation is driverless on Window XP/2000, Mac OS9 and above. Both subwoofer and speakers are magnetically shielded to minimise signal interference and the whole system draws less than 5V.
Available now, the Amacrox Subwoofer Speaker set will retail for just £26 plus VAT and comes in either white or black. Mini-dancefloor-tastic.
