"SiN Serialised"

On a day where broadcasters talked of their plans to link television and computers, it seems only suitable that a computer game should announce its format will mimic television. Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing a Ritual Entertainment production: SiN Episodes.

As the title quite literally spells out, the follow up to last year’s popular first person shooter SiN will actually be delivered to gamers in parts. This will be possible because developer Ritual Entertainment has penned a deal with Valve to have the game distributed over Steam. The plan is for an “episode” to appear every three or four months priced $20 that features around six hours of game play. At this stage it is unknown how many episodes there will be.

Steam is not all Ritual is borrowing from Valve either, because while the original SiN performed miracles with the ancient Quake 2 engine, Sin Episodes is using Source, the revolutionary engine behind Half Life 2.

As for the story itself, it once again sees our protagonist, the shovel jawed John R. Blade, and sidekick – a distinctively more flowered Jessica (above - with the gravity defying underwear) – tackle the evil genius of the biochemist with the porn star sounding name, Elexis Sinclaire. Freeport City is again where all the action will take place and what Elexis is up to… well, it remains a mystery for one very good reason. It turns out that Ritual will be monitoring the way we play the game and design the ensuing sections accordingly. A game where you truly do influence the direction it takes… interesting.

Unfortunately there are no shots of SiN Episodes yet just wallpapers, with Ritual assuring us they will be releasing some screens “Soon” (not the greatest instiller of confidence when coming from the mouth of a games’ developer). The official site is up and running, however, and you boys and girls (probably mostly boys) can get all hot and sweaty about it by clicking the link below.
