 'Carnival Colours' Come To PSP

Some of you may have wondered what radical methods, aside from job cuts, Sony would be employing to stave off further effects of the recession. The answer? Colourful PSPs of course, available to Japan both separately or as part of a PSP Carnival Colors {sic} Value Pack.

Individual systems, in Vibrant Blue, Radiant Red, Bright Yellow and Spirited Green will be priced at ¥19,800 (~£159). Value packs, which pack the PSP a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, an AC adaptor a battery pack, an AC adaptor and a colour-matched carry case will come in at ¥24,800 (~199).

Sony Computer Entertainment Asia has already released the red and blue colours this month, but in Japan they will debut on the 5th on March. The yellow and green consoles will come later, on the 19th to be precise.

Whether these Carnival colours will make their way to the UK or not is yet to be seen. It seems likely that Sony will do anything it can to bolster sales in the current economic climate and who wouldn't want a brightly coloured PSP?

I think Sony could be on to something here. For all those struggling tech companies who have laid off people and posted rubbish profit forecasts, merely change the colour of a few of your key products, and there you have it - recession avoided!

Excellent - I'll take a blue one please! Wouldn't it be good if Sony did snap on covers for those of us that already have "mysterious black"?

Hmm...looks more like some kid's technology coursework to me. I'm sure I came up with something that looked that horrifically ugly when I was in school. I mean, when did black stop being cool? Now I'm going to have to take a can of spray paint to everything I own with a glossy black finish...TV, PS3, speakers, alarm clock, laptop, mp3 player, phone...ummm, pretty much everything actually.

GLossy white is now horribly out of fashion. I remember the days when it was cool ;). Looking at a macbook white next to a new macbook is sickening. Black remains timeless. Currently the thing that is in is aluminium/metal coated effect. In led news. Blue was in for a while, but the ancient and venerable red is coming back with a vengeance. Beige is never to return.

That said, this strategy of colours worked for nintendo with the ds lites. However they weren't in a recession then...
