D-Link Cuts Existing WiFi Routers' Power Use 40% Comments

Now I do like this! I always sitch off my AV equipment and PC at the wall (if im honest, more out of stingyness for not wanting to pay for equipmet being on standby than saving the environment) but the only thing I dont turn off, because its a pian to turn on is my wireless router! So a router that saves electricity would be very welcome....

Would be interested in the actual number of Watts it uses, rather than the percentage reduction. For all I know, they could've been horrifically inefficient before. My trusty (crusty?) old wireless router uses about 6W all the time (c. £7 per year). Not a large amount, but mildly annoying.

Like Gavin says, watts absolute, not relative, please. In fact, it would be really great if power consumption would become a standard metric on all equipment tests. A modest PC rig can easily burn 200 watts, my Draytek router is always nice and toasty - watt's it all costing?

Is DIR-855 even available for purchase? You keep referring to it as it is, but I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere.

I think there is a mistake on this comment "First seen last year in its DWA-643 and DWA-556 desktop switches". DWA are wireless adapters, the desktop switches with Green Ethernet are DGS-1005D and DGS-1008D.
