If there's one particular mover and shaker in the networking space right now it is D-Link with 11 year warranties, WUSB moves, first place in Draft N 2.0 certification and now these...

First up the company has expanded its WiFi adaptor range with the 'NWA-556' (above) and 'DWA-643'. The former brings connectivity to the desktop via a PCIe slot while the latter services your notebook needs via USB.

Both are Draft N 2.0 compatible (meaning they'll work with the final 802.11n standard once ratified) and offer theoretical performance of up to 300Mbps. WPA/WPA2 security and WEP data encryption are also featured while the two products qualify for that cracking 11 year warranty.

In addition, D-Link has announced the industry's first range of 'Green Ethernet' products: an energy saving line of desktop switches. Targeting home users and small businesses, the switches claim to deliver energy savings of up to 44 per cent compared to the usage of on average 5-port Gigabit switch meaning lower operating costs and happy trees and bunnies.

The switches work by actively measuring when PCs connected to them are turned off so they can power down into standby mode. Furthermore, while most switches use the maximum power necessary to support cable lengths of up to 100m, D-Link has added a feature to dynamically measure the cable length in use and adapt power accordingly. Take a gold star sirs.

The DWA-643 and DWA-556 hit the market this month for £59.99 apiece while its Green Ethernet switches will arrive sometime in Q4 for an as yet unknown price.

Keep up the good work D-Link, we're impressed.
