We are slowly beginning to take high speed mobile data downloads rates for granted, but what about better upload speeds too?

OEM Option, which is behind most of the rebranded data cards on the market, has again come up trumps with its latest breakthrough: the world's first HSUPA data card.

Now I'm sure you're all pretty good with your mobile data rate acronyms: GPRS, 3G and HSDPA but HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) may be a new one on you and it enables upload rates to reach a galloping 2Mbps – significantly faster than the upload rates of most home broadband connections, and a boon to mobile workers who are often sending data back and forth on the road.

Based on an ExpressCard format, the card itself is also triple band HSPA and UMTS and capable of supporting maximum download speeds of 7.2Mbps while being backward compatible with older HSDPA standards offering 3.6Mbps, 1.8Mbps and 384Kbps. EDGE and GPRS also make it onboard this Swiss Army Knife of a device.

Option has yet to announce which networks will pick up and rebrand its latest and greatest creation but it is likely to be the vast majority based on previous evidence. Let the High Def webcam times roll...
