Following on from Tamagotchis, Panini Stickers and more lately WiFi & dual core the latest global must have is Wireless USB and D-Link has hopped aboard.

With the standard now finalised and products being ratified left, right, a little more left, a smidgen to the right and bang down the centre D-Link has joined Belkin and Dell and Lenovo in offering an official WUSB device.

Like Belkin it has gone down the hub route (it was unlikely to produce a laptop!), but its 'DUB-9240' is rather more laptop friendly than the formers' hardware featuring a more traditional USB dongle which can be plugged into a spare port for instant communication with all devices plugged into the hub itself. Interestingly, the dongle can address up to three hubs so it can work with a variety peripherals in different locations such as the home, office and errr.... another home or office.

Like every certified WUSB product performance is excellent achieving the full USB2.0 standard of 480Mbps at up to 30 feet. It is also backwards compatible with USB1.1 products.

The DUB-9240 launches in Q4 with the hub and dongle retailing for early adopter prices of $220 and $120 respectively. If you're partner to a tech obsessed other half however this premium could well be worth it to tidy some of that cable clutter...

Think of it like buying them a CD you both like: win, win ;)
