A few weeks back we were all invited to meet the man, the myth, the hit German record maker that is The Hoff. The event was in conjunction with Pipex but oddly no details were forthcoming. Now finally this brave new union has come out… (so to speak).

As from today the ambitious ISP will launch brand new 8Mbps broadband packages with prices beginning from just £6.50 per month with free modem and connection. The catch – nay, there’s always a catch (as I’m sure DH has said himself in many episodes of Knightrider and Babe Baywatch) – is you also need to be signed up to Pipex’s Anytime calls package which costs £12.50 per month.

To be frank (actually I’ll be David) for a minute, this still works out as a rather stonking deal because, as the name suggests, Anytime provides free unlimited local and national calls 24 hours a day while the two gigabyte usage allowance on your DSL connection will be enough for most casual surfers.

Should the lure of limewire bittorent legal music sites loom large on your horizon however Hoffex offers two beefier options: Pipex Go and Pipex Max. The former costs £9.99 on top of an Anytime price plan and offers a 15 gigabyte monthly allowance, the latter – at £14.99 – is uncapped.

Of course, for me, what holds the greatest interest in all this is just how The Hoff will market this. I know for one that Spode is praying for a slow motion scene involving DH once again running topless down a sandy beach (I only have eyes for you Gordon - Spode), but personally I’m hoping the only ‘KITT’ on show will be a black Trans Am…

Update:
Yes, I decided to scrap the official photography and go with one from the aforementioned event. Shout outs to Sara (CRN), Phil and Madeline (both IT Week), all top journos and far braver than me for getting in front of the camera in the first place…

Update 2:
Thanks to Bulldog F2S UK Online BT PlusNet Eclipse Carphone Warehouse helpful reader Darren for pointing out the Pipex service does indeed also incur the cost of a BT line rental charge. We kinda figured you'd assume that but "Ass.U.Me" n all that...

Update 3:
