Wireless USB (WUSB) could be one of the biggest hits of 2006 and, slightly ahead of schedule, Wisair is showing us why.

Before we begin, whom of you is thinking “What is Wireless USB? Right, go to the back of the class, put on the pointy hat with the ‘D’ written on it and read this. Those of you already up to speed please welcome back your more challenged chums and let’s continue. We’re got our first hub!

WUSB aficionado Wisair is behind it and the theory is simple: plug the WUSB hub into the back of your computer and it will communicate with all future WUSB compatible products. For existing, non-compatible kit simply plug a WUSB dongle into the back of them and Hey Presto, no more wires for our mothers to tut at and tie into neat little circles when they visit…

Now the downside to all of this is Wisair’s tidy little product is currently just a reference design, but it does suggest retail products will flood the market next year and I, for one, can hardly wait until the unparalleled spaghetti mess behind my computer is just another dim and distant memory. I’ve got no idea what I’ll do with all the little plastic twists from my ‘mum-tidied’ cables though…?
