BT Offer Halves Openzone Prices

If you want broadband access on the move, but don’t have the cash for a Vodafone 3G card or the suicidal tendencies to purchase its Pay-As-You-Go option then BT’s Openzone Wi-Fi service is a good alternative.

It is about to get even better too as from 1 September until 30 November the former telco monopolist will be slashing its prices by up to 50 per cent. Consequently, a monthly rate of £5 (normally £10) will get you 250 minutes service per month, and £15 (standard price £25) obtains a massive 4,000 minutes. Surprisingly, you’ll need to sign up today to qualify though... quick, here’s the link.

Clearly, the move has been made to promote greater Wi-Fi usage. Like me, you probably thought this wonderful invention was converting customers hand over fist, but according to a BT poll, just seven per cent enjoy its pleasures at home. At work that number drops to four per cent and eighty-eight per cent are stark raving bonkers, believing they will not look to use it in the future. Repetitive shaking, gallons of water over the head and some choice slaps are clearly needed.

After all, what pleasures could possibly be gained from sitting in the garden, soaking up the sun’s rays and surfing the Web? Mmmn…I think I’ll do that right now.
