Be Fast: "Be" ADSL2+

In the broadband arena England has been playing catch up for a long time, but he who laughs last laughs longest and the announcement from Be Unlimited that it is on the brink of launching a 24Mbps service means it could take a long time for the smiles to leave our faces.

Formed in October 2004, the privately funded LLU operator is a one stop shop, installing its equipment in BT exchanges and providing the service directly to customers. Trials will begin in August with 45 exchanges targeted initially and a fast role out plan scheduled to follow. Pricing has yet to be revealed, but Be promises that when announced it will send out shockwaves.

“The deregulation of the market makes this a very exciting time for the UK and Be Unlimited is here to make the most of it, offering customers the full capability of ADSL2+ from launch,” said Boris Ivanovic, co-founder of the company. ”There is no reason to drag out the increase in speed and launch in steps of 1Mbps or 2Mbps when the capability is there to offer the maximum speeds available - which is what Be is all about.”

Be joins Freedom2Surf, NTL and UKOnline as a frontrunner in an exciting race to a new era in broadband technology which will see video-on-demand, VoIP and video conferencing become common place. As Riyad recently argued there is no such thing as too fast and it seems, as far as these ISPs are concerned, there’s no such thing as too soon either.
