You seem to have focussed on the fact that an analogue TV tuner is present in this device. However the purpose of this tuner is that it enables you to connect to your Sky Box and or cable box via an RF Cable. This breathes more life into the product, by enabling users to have more choice to capture from.

The following article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7473807.stm shows that many UK consumers are still purchasing analogue TV sets. Customers who may have been put off by the lack of a digital tuner, should also know that TVMax+ can also be conected to a freeview box, thus enabling them to view and capture the digital channels.

However, the main beauty of TVmax+ is that no other device including the eyetv 250 enables users to get generate instant video content for their AppleTV, Video iPod or iPhone, TVMax+ does this directly into iTunes, no further conversion required.

Unlike the elgato product, TVMax+ can record directly into MPEG-4 which is why the product is unique, correct me if im wrong but the conversion time for a video into iTunes using the Elgato product can take hours depending on the size of the recording. If using TVMax+ the time will always be a few seconds regardless of the original size or length of footage.
