Looking back on these two speaker systems, one could argue that I have been fixated on the layout aspects. For the most part this is true since I found the whole experience of trying to arrange 7 speakers plus a subwoofer around my PC frustrating to say the least. The idea that one can re-create a home cinema or theatre system for the PC is to me, not realistic. This is not to detract in anyway from the fact that both of these systems are quality speakers with acceptable sound but in the end I’d stick with two speakers for gaming with the possible addition of a subwoofer.

As with most of these types of speaker systems, the addition of a subwoofer, while mandatory for 7.1-channel sound, is also essential to cope with the normal bass frequencies of music and games. Without a sub they just fall flat and for me there just isn’t a substitute for a full range speaker that doesn’t rely on a subwoofer for its bass response. For the price however you’re getting a lot, either set will cost you only £99.87 and you won’t find any proper home cinema setups anywhere near this cheap.

Since both these speaker sets are on a nearly level par choosing a winner was hard, but overall the best performer was the VideoLogic ZXR-750. This was mainly due to the quality of its subwoofer and the fuller sound from its satellites resulting in a far more pleasing sound stage overall.
