tele-sale.. hate it or love it @.@

The iphone/ipod control systems looks great, would be even better if the unit itself runs on battery as well. Also what if I switch off my phone, does it also kill off the radio?

Colour looks dull, clearly it doesnt fit the deco of the flat in the video...lol

Hi Gordon,

Can you say how exactly this unit is wireless? It looks pretty wired, aside from the remote. Which is a generally wireless concept.

I read elsewhere about having to buy a wireless adapter if I want to link this up to the Sonos quasi-draft-N network.

Cheers,
Eddy

@Eddy Hall - sure. All the players will work together via 'SonosNet 2.0', a secure, proprietary AES encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network optimised for audio. But if you want Internet radio stations you'll need to plug in the Ethernet cable to one S5 as SonosNet doesn't work with Wireless b/g/n. That said, if you connect just one S5 up with Ethernet it can then broadcast wirelessly to all other S5 units in the home.

And yes, you are right other remotes don't have wires, but with the Sonos units you can control any S5 in the home from any room and also control multiple units at the same time so, for example, turn the volume up or down, stop, play, play the same song, etc.

"Check out the video below for a company demo, but remember: watch the drool..."

Are we talking about the product in question still or the lovely lady in the video? 'Cause I know what I was drooling about... ;)

if they produce an Android controller app and hook up with Spotify, then I'm in. Any word on either being in the pipeline, guys? (ideally we'd be talking about accessing Spotify directly from the S5 and also potentially allowing playing directly from the playlists on the phone).

I would buy a similar product for the lounge if they done away with the amps and speakers - i.e. plug it into the main system. I guess the S5 will have audio out capabilities, but it'd be shame to pay for the unused components.

This is pretty cool.

It's like the Sonos Zone players but with a built in amp and speakers. It can be controlled from the Sonos remotes (CR100/200) or an iPhone / iPod touch.

I've already got 3 Sonos zone players, but I know that I will be getting a couple of these.

Awesome !!

Now, if only they did a weatherproof version ....

I'm about to create a similar system as have an iphone and just inherited a b&o beosound which looks very similar to that unit....though you'd need to hit the sonos with a growth ray. I'm just gonna buy an apple express though and play my itunes library through it.

They have - the Sonos Zoneplayer 90. (Plus you'll need a Sonos ZoneBridge to hook up to your network and create the SonosNet wireless network mentioned by Gordon).

No sign of an Android app or Spotify support yet but expect them as Sonos are good at supporting their products.

I want one. Wish it had come out 2 months earlier then I wouldn't have bought the Logitech boombox (even though it is a fab bit of kit). I want one in every room! My stereo is history. Welcome to the future, the CD is dead.

This is flipping cool.

Did anyone else notice the prosthetic hand which was used to hold the iphone? Haha.

Pre-order cancelled.

Sounds exciting. Am I right in thinking that if we don't have an iPod or iPhone, the entry cost isn't really reduced, as we still have to buy a controller?
