Everyone knows Motorola is in trouble, its financial results tell us it is in trouble, its job cuts tells us it is in trouble and its handsets (Q 9h apart) really tell us it is in trouble. Or do they...?

Pulling quite the fast one is BGR which has managed to snag codenames and images of all the Motorola handsets due out on US network Verizon Wireless during the first half of Q1. Naturally hardware specs are absent and there is a significant difference between the US and UK mobile markets (poor US) but it does give us a strong indication - if not explicit statement - of what kinds of handsets we'll be seeing from the suffering manufacturer over here next year as it fights for life.

Perhaps most exciting is the 'FLASH' (pictured first) which doesn't look a million miles apart from the exciting Lenovo OPhone while the 'CALGARY' (pictured second) gives HTC-esque smartphones a futuristic run for their money with the 'RUSH 2' (pictured third) a more traditional take on the sliding Qwerty format.

Lastly (and most uninterestingly) is the 'INFERNO' (pictured... ok - you've got it by now) a flip clamshell that looks akin to a *whisper it* RAZR 2.0 no doubt with a bunch of additional bells and whistles thrown in.

Most significant in all this however is that while the OS doesn't look overly familiar Motorola is known to be throwing all its weight behind the exciting Google Android. Could these shots be the first sign of a manufacturer adding its own superficial gloss the Android UI? Who knows. That said, get the OS right and some of these models could really cause a stir...

...mess it up and, no pressure, but it's probably Adios Motorola!

Some pretty nice looking phones - I particularaly like the first QWERTY one.

The Calgary looks gorgeous & very tempting, especially if the backlit keyboard makes it to the production model

One interesting thing about the last phone is that it looks like it's a clamshell with no keypad and "only" one screen.... or... a touchscreen with a plastic cover o... more

Interesting you mention it might be using Android as the OS..... Is that a Windows key I see on the first handset.....
