With video sharing and social networking site obsessions reaching ever higher levels, Flip Video has announced its latest smart and budget freeing response...

The 'Flip Mino' will augment sales hit the Flip Ultra, bringing a smaller and slightly more elegant offering to web video fanatics everywhere.

At just 100 x 50 x 16mm and a mere 90g, the Mino cuts a lot of bulk away from the Ultra yet also manages to shoot the same VGA (640 x 480) resolution footage at up to 30fps with an average 4Mbps bitrate. There's also a 1.5in colour LCD and a handy 2GB of native storage (no expansion slots) the battery is now a rechargeable lithium ion number. The lens remains fixed focus, but swanky new touch sensitive buttons (Power, Play, Delete, Record and 4 way navigation) add a bit of glitz.

As with the Flip Video, the simple built in swivel USB arm allows the Mino to be easily connected to a PC (XP, Vista or OS X operating systems supported) and the bundled software enables instant uploading to MySpace, YouTube, AOL Video and more along with private email sharing and video greeting cards.

Launching immediately, the Flip Mino will retail at slightly more than its heftier forebear at £119, but it remains eminently affordable and is likely to be a choice stocking filler this Chrimbo.
