We didn't see the grandest of announcements from Creative this year, but given the quality of its GigaWorks speaker line there certainly wasn't a lack of quality.

Three new additions have been made to the popular range with TR favourites the T20 (I even bought a pair!) and T40 receiving redesigns and a new 2.1 set in the shape of the 'T3'.

Dealing with the established order first, both the T20 and T40 now have 'Series II' added to their names and have undergone a outer makeover, receiving a new piano black-esque finish and internal tweaking to their 'BasXPort' technology which cleverly integrates a small subwoofer into each speaker eliminating the need for a separate bass and cable clutter.

As for the Gigaworks T3, this is a high end 2.1 system which employs a 'SLAM' (Symmetrically Loaded Acoustic Module) subwoofer design which uses three drivers to produce a deeper and richer output and also features LSP (Low Standby Power) technology to cut electricity consumption when not in use.

In addition, as with the T20 and T40, there's also auxiliary and headphone outs plus a front line-in port means virtually any device can be hooked up over a 3.5mm jack even when the PC is switched off..

The Series II T20 and T40 models will launch in October for €99 and €129 respectively while the Gigaworks T3 will beat them both to the punch arriving in September for a predictably more premium €199. I'd keep your eyes peeled...

Yikes! The T20 MkII looks like its right out of the 1980's. A retrograde step - but hopefully this means retailers will be knocking out the MkI at a good discount.

From the sounds of things and from the look of the photo - the T40 Mk2 now includes a second audio input (something sadly lacking on the first version).
