I hate the term 'Unlimited' but clearly it's not going away... so it isn't surprising that Skype is the latest company to decide it wants to promote such a misleading phrase.

Consequently what we have for the first time from Skype are three 'unlimited' domestic, European and global call plans offering 10,000 minutes per month (it's a lot but HOW is that unlimited?) for £2.24pm, £3.39pm and £7.99pm respectively.

Dubbed 'Unlimited Country', 'Unlimited Europe' and 'Unlimited World' the first is open to any European country and allows 10,000 minutes of talk time per month to landlines inside that country. Unlimited Europe expands this across 20 EU members (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland [that'll be popular], Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom). Lastly Unlimited World comprises entitlement to 34 countries ranging from Australia to Taiwan and the UK (fat chance I'll be writing all those out).

In an effort to drum up early interest, Skype is also offering a promotion until 1 June where subscribers get three months for the price of two. As always, Skype to Skype calls in all plans remain completely free.

Great stuff, but for the love of the English language can we please commit the following to memory:

UNLIMITED (un·lim·it·ed)
-adjective

• 1. not limited; unrestricted; unconfined: unlimited trade.
• 2. boundless; infinite; vast: the unlimited skies.
• 3. without any qualification or exception; unconditional.
