While iHome was a virtual unknown 18 months ago its produced a steady stream of good quality iPod dock related products since then, growing considerable street cred and this looks set to boost it further.

The 'iH69 iPod Computer Speaker System' is a clever two-in-one combining 2.0 desktop speakers with an iPod dock for direct audio output, charging and syncing for no additional messy wires.

Amazingly, this is the first time I have seen such a logical combination - frightening considering some of the combinations out there. Common sense aside, sound - as is iHome's tradition - should be pretty good too since the iH69 has 20 watt, 2.5in Reson8 speakers. Cleverly, playback can also be done even when the PC is off either via the player's controls or using the dedicated play/pause, fast-forward and rewind buttons on the base of the right hand speaker.

A sub $200 dollar RRP is also expected when the iH69 hits the market during the second half of '08 and at this price its all-in-one approach is likely to save cash as well as cabling. Hats off.
