Ask a number of people what Belkin does and you’ll get a number of different answers. Many will tell you that it’s an iPod accessory company, others may label it a PC cable and KVM manufacturer, while others still may indicate that Belkin produces AV products. The fact is that Belkin does all that and much more, but recently it has become clear that Belkin has put a lot of effort into improving its design and R&D departments, coming up with some good looking and innovative products.

One of the best things I saw at CES was the Belkin TuneStudio. This very innovative bit of kit is basically a small mixing desk that records in WAV format to an iPod. This will be an extremely attractive product for bands starting out, who can simply plug all their mics and instruments into the TuneStudio, lay all their tracks down, get the mix perfect and record it straight to an iPod. It will then be simple for them to upload their latest set to iTunes for all their friends, family and (hopefully) fans to download.

The simplicity of the TuneStudio is one of its big attractions, but equally, if not more attractive is the price – with a recommended retail price of $179, you’ll probably be able to pick this little beauty up for a little over £100 in the UK.

Belkin had a band on its stand playing live sets, which were then recorded onto the iPod and the results were excellent when played back. If you’re a budding musician and you want to get high quality recordings of your music easily and cheaply, the TuneStudio could be the answer.
